Post Proposal to DTC retire the forum
Since the only DTC Forum used with any frequency is the event forum, my proposal is to convert the DTC forums to an event calendar and shut down this old forum.

We would allow people to log in and announce shows/events and put fliers up on the main page, but the discussions, etc. would either go away or in to a read-only archive of some sort.

Feedback?

Stupid Facebook and other social media has killed most forums, despite forums being much better for so many reasons, especially UX-wise and for moderation. But you can't have a discussion without the people.

I think it's worth considering shutting down and archiving the forums. Maybe some day we can reboot on Slack or something. Twin Cities Geeks have a pretty active Slack community and they're considering adding a goth channel. Maybe it's worth talking to the folks over there about bringing a Dark Twin Cities channel into their Slack?

If you do take the forums down (or disable posting), I hope it'll still be available as some sort of archive.
It's still a fantastic resource for reminiscing, and looking up things like, "When did Hocico play here last??", even with the search index being broken. (Just gotta page through and Ctrl-F for what you're looking for)

So nobody is super opposed, but keeping the forum data in a read-only mode is useful.

For now that's the plan. I need to figure out the best way to go about it.
