hey, guys...
I'm new to this, so please be gentle and don't bite me just yet. I am interested in becoming Goth. Get this, I'm a music journalist in country music plus my hubby and I own a haunted house - both real and halloween. You can see it at www.spooky-hollow.com

I'm open to a world other than work, taxes and plus I have my own coffin! (one that we made for Halloween!) Ye old pine box - so to speak.

So, please take me under your bat wing - I need a group to belong too.

thnx

Yeah, that is one obtuse website you've got there. I found hints about it being in Wisconsin on one page, and something about 94 to the Baldwin exit tucked away somewhere else.

Be as spooky as you want to be.

Just don't go around calling yourself "goth." Ugh. I want that word struck from the English language.

Yea, we're in Baldwin or as we call it Baldick. You can do anything in this town, except speed. So, if you all come just watch the speed. I mean auto speed.

As for Goth, well I consider myself just me. My interests are all over the board. But, that's the freedom of being an American - for some.

Yea, for the site - well I'm looking at revamping it. It's not what I want - but it works.

BTW - Baldwin is 20 miles east of St. Paul. We consider ourselves a part of the Twin Cities. I mean really, what else are we going to be a part of? Eau Claire? Yeah right!

Hey, anybody have any tatts? I have 5! I'm hoping to get two more...

Huh.. a relative used to live in Baldwin. I used to live in Spooner. I record country music.

I have no problem with the term "Goth" even though it's now been corrupted to mean a fan of bad disco music who wears rubber pants.

Hi, Spookers! As far as I can tell Devil takes great pride and pleasure in being annoyed, go on and call yourself whatever you like. The goth community in Madison is much tighter than it is here. You might want to look those guys up too. They're awesome. Welcome.

If you're in Baldwin, you're part of Menominee.

Eau Claire won't take you.

Welcome to DTC. Keep an eye on the event forum.

Nope. There's no pleasure in it at all. But it does annoy me when people spell "devil" with a capital D. I am not competing with Ol' Scratch thankyouverymuch.

That's Menomonie. Spell it right... Or can't people from Eau Claire spell? Should have gone to Stout.

People should be able to label themselves any way they want.

But I like "darksider," because it's the term that is and was widely used in the Twin Cities, and our specific usage may have originated here.

If you Google some, you'll see the term is used to describe very different scenes, especially metal. Try "darkside vocal," and you'll see a ton of dance and hip hop. And, of course, if you don't include "music" in your search, you're going to be flooded with thousands of hits regarding Star Wars.

At first, we (meaning all of us in the scene) were often derided as the "Groovy Ghoulies." "Darksider" roughly coincided with John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band's "On The Dark Side" -- a #1 hit that was unavoidable, annoying and ruined "Eddie and the Cruisers" for me for life. Again, we didn't pick the term. As I remember, it was along the lines of friendly ribbing/taunting from some of the hardcore crowd which stuck.

Are there other "darksider" scenes I'm unaware of?
