"000000000001" is a byte and a half, and rather cumbersome to say.
Does he object to people abbreviating it to "hex 001" in informal conversation?

aha, he usually goes by eleven zeros one. He's really into analogue synths, commodores, and digital exploitation.

God damn hipster techno, I use to have to deal with this a lot of that when I still worked at the radio station.

Analog synths and bit-crushing use to be cool. Now it's boiled down to a formula. Not to mention the digital clean-up completely negates oscillator instability, making it sound not that analog.

$200?

Needs one key repaired and the cat puked on it. Make an offer.
As much as I hate to part with it, it isn't doing me any good in the basement.

Oh, but Motor has Bryan Black of Haloblack in it, arguably one of the better industrial crunch acts to come out of this area from back in the day.

Dude, this was produced by Bryan Black. I'm assuming you were referring to the track I posted?

Either way, Nico has been deeply involved with everything not-hipster for a really long time. Dude even did some video work for Kraftwerk at some point. He's got an incredible selection of vinyl and knows all the tricks. I may be young, but I definitely don't run keen on "hipster" music. This night is all about that classic sound!

as far as the synths and drum machines go, I don't see anything wrong with appreciating and enjoying the foundations our music forefathers hath set forth. Not to mention they sound really punchy and amazing.

When I refer to hipster techno I generally mean things like Motor, Vitalic, Mr Oizo, and anyone that has an unhealthy obsession with saw waves.

To me old school signifies strange sounds and poor production quality, like the Klinik, DAF, or Esplendor Geometrico...

Yes
The same

I have only watched the beginning of it because I can't really get past the part where things got more pop oriented
The 17 yr old Slayer fan in me wants to beat somebody up when things get dancy and limp wristed
I am going back to Youtube now to try to finish it but i can't guarentee anything

I enjoyed the Synth Britannia Doc if only because everyone looked old. There really wasn't much shared that I didn't already know.

I was a bit iffy coming into this, because of the theme. I really didn't want to hear the same old tired songs all night long. I actually heard a few gems I completely forgot about. Thanks for that....+10, do it again.

And you gotta respect a DJ who isn't afraid to close out his set with Phil Oakey & Georgio Moroder's "Electric Dreams". (Hey, I have two different versions of that soundtrack, but it's not like I go around telling people that.)

ahaha. Thanks, so awesome you reckognized that. I was like 3 red bulls deep at that point, and decided that I need to play the most epic awesome song I had with me, the rest was history.

Last night was so so so awesome! Seriously had a fucking blast playing. I really loved the fact that people were totally following the sound! The deeper the tracks I was throwing out, the more the crowd was feeling it! Even got to play Tour De France towards the end, which sounded amazing on that system. Best point is when I played Tenebrae, and some guy came up to me, and was just completely overwhelmed and excited about it. Pretty sure he gave me at least 5 epic handshakes he loved it so much. Big ups to Nico too for playing, not many people realized it, but half the stuff he was playing were his own tracks/remixes.

Nice to meet all you old skool folks as well. Definitely waiting desperately to do something like this again.

Agreed about the not learning anything new from the Doc. For me it was all about watching all my favorite synth heroes talk about their experience and stories. Such an exciting time!
