Post Music Photography
I'm relatively new to music photography; I've shot five shows so far. However, the skills that are required to shoot live music aren't new to me at all; I've been shooting "combat sports", primarily MMA and kickboxing, for over two years now, and close to 40 events in that time. The most similar aspect between the two seemingly separate branches of photography is subject to light ratio- I'm often shooting action in the dark.

Yes, the first two are; the third was shot at Grand Casino Hinckley.

Unfortunately, I haven't shot at Myth in over a year thanks to their strongarm tactics. They (actually, it came down to the decision of one person) would've let me to continue to shoot if I signed their contract that stipulated the following:

1) I give the club all photos taken

2) they are allowed to advertise/market the club using my work

3) I'm not allowed to sell my work

and as a special bonus offer, they refused to pay me for the work they asked for. I tried to negotiate; I tried to amend the contract they "offered" me, but they wouldn't budge. It's a shame- after 14 months I still get emails asking me for pictures I didn't take.
