You didn't build this city! Some one else made it happen!
There are a lot of wealthy, successful rockers who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by rockers who think, well, it must be because I was such a good musician. There are a lot of good musicians out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking musicians out there.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great music teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American music industry that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a city — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

The Big Bird thing is because of a Romney gaffe. He said he wants to cut funding for PBS, which is recognized fairly universally as a stupid (and obviously unpopular) idea.

Sure, it's realy killing him in the polls isn't it. Romney was attacking corporate welfare, that is obviously popular.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting receives about $450million from Congress each year. About $280million goes to PBS and the local stations.
Federal funding makes up about 12 per cent of the PBS budget.

Shows like Sesame Street are multi-million dollar enterprises capable of thriving in the private market. According to the 990 tax form all nonprofits are required to file, Sesame Workshop President and CEO Gary Knell received $956,513 -- nearly a million dollars -- in compensation in 2008. And, from 2003 to 2006, "Sesame Street" made more than $211 million from toy and consumer product sales.
Personaly, Sesame St sucked after the 80's any way w/ Elmo ect... repeats on youtube will sufice.

Ether asked me why I quit jumping all over Fisty for every dumb ass comment he makes Was I going soft? I replied that trying to call Fisty out on his bullshit is like trying to teach a severely retarded kid to use the toilet instead of shitting his pants He can't help it so you might as well ignore it and let someone else clean it up
Seriously Fisty It's not fun anymore Either you are that much of a fucking moron that you believe all of this shit or you are trying to act like a fucking moron just to stir shit up It's just that you are so convncing as a fucking moron You play this role with such enthusiasm, it almost feels like you really mean this shit But then I see your material and have to conclude that 1- You are really this fucking moronic 2- You are a no talent hack that's trying so hard to manipulate us with such shitty material that you don't see how much of a fucking moron you are

Thx Rockula! But cmon, do we REALY need to fund PBS when they don't need it?
Re: You didn't build this city! Some one else made it happen
do we REALLY need to extend bush tax cuts, when those people don't need it? it would be more money than we save on PBS, only, you know, by SEVERAL ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE

PBS funding from the Feds: $450M
I don't know... maybe my math's off here, but $450 doesn't seem like much compared to the $8B oil subsidies, for starters, or the overall deficit of $1.4T for current fiscal year. Hell, you could even compare it to GW's $1.1T annual deficit and it still doesn't look like more than a drop of water in the ocean.

Taxpayer $ is not Govt $.
True, $450 mill is not alot, but it that's what every entity that gets Govt $ says. The oil subsidies are no worse than any othe tax breaks most companies get, it's just fashionable to pick on "big evil oil". But, like ive said a million times LP, eliminate all subsidies for all I care. Especialy the failed Green energy ones. (many of those btw, are backed by Big OIL.)

If you don't want the economy to get even worse, yes we do need to. Even Obama has admitted this.

Re: You didn't build this city! Some one else made it happen
Simpler solution than cutting PBS funding: weigh the benefits to American citizens.
-PBS: Free early-childhood educational programming all day until 6PM on weekdays. Actual balanced news coverage which points to all pertinent national and world stories with great, in-depth reporting and without bias. -Oil: Less than 50 executives add the money to their golden parachute. -Tobacco subsidies (yes, they still exist): Less than 500 multi-millionaire tobacco farmers are able to sell their tobacco to major cigarette manufacturers. -Ethanol: Gives money to ethanol plants while raising the price of feed corn for farms and food for humans causing an ever escalating food price.
PBS' grant is so miniscule to the others, yet provides the greatest return. Cost effective, point blank.

No hypocracy at all. It's all about what benefits the most Americans.
I railed against the tobacco subsidy in my post, in spite of being a tobacco user, knowing full well that my cost per pack would rise if the subsidy ended. It is an item which benefits very few and its consumption is a choice. Oil is needed, but oil companies are raking record profits due to global demand. Food is needed, but huge corporate farms do not need the subsidies to continue operating and should not be incentivized to raise prices because of ethanol.
PBS, BBC and Al Jazeera are all top notch media outlets with significantly higher integrity than their private counterparts. They are cost effective and greatly benefit all involved as well as all who watch/listen to their broadcasts.

Does the Govt give one the choice of cow, pig, or goat nipple? Because I want goat nipple.

But still LP. You like some corporate welfare and dislike others. You pick and choose like every other mootcher that wants a Govt cow nipple. Massive cuts and austerity are whats in store, It's best just to cut clean across the board
Picking and chosing is what happens when you find out which programs are ineffective That's what happens in a government where the elected officials do their jobs correctly instead of trying to score points for the next election Massive cuts and austerity sounds like it's the right choice in your head because you imagine that the Republicans will facilitate such a momentus change But I doubt you would have such enthusiasm for this fantasy if the Dems were the ones naming the terms after the "reset" button is pushed
Just like abortion is wrong until you are a certain congressman/Dr who got your patient/mistress pregnant I consider you to have the same moral compass

To be fair Obama did better this time around. But so did Romney, so It's a Romney win on points. I think Obama pleased his base, Romney pleased the undecided. Thats what snap polls say at least.
But I think the FnF nand BengaziGate probs will dominate the news for a while, thats not good for BHO.
