Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
Alright, here's the deal I'm looking for an alternative/goth guy for a (nonpaying, but you get the pics) photo shoot. Details: You should be 20-30 years old or at least look it, be at least 5'9, skinny-average body type (bodybuilders need not apply), dark hair, tattoos & piercings, etc. Like I said this is a non paying gig... this is only to build on my alternative modeling portfolio which you might want to use for your own port... or just simply do it for the hell of it, get some wicked photos in the end, and hang out with a pretty cool chick all the while The theme for the photoset is somewhat of a gothic Romeo & Juliet. The set would include photos of their initial meeting, falling in love, etc, random weird photos inbetween, then inevitably ending the same way most relationships do... they're tired & bored of each other and really don't care anymore if the other one kills themselves (which they do) It's gonna be lots of fun, and I'm still thinking of some weird images we could make, so suggestions are welcome x) So if this sounds interesting to you, please shoot me an IM here. There's no set date for this yet, it's just in the beginning stages in my head. I only ask that you be a fun dude, fit the description, be creative, have a sense of humor, and be as interested in this shoot as I am (or honestly it just won't look right) and can hopefully contribute to the ideas of the theme and have fun with it. If there are any details I've left out, feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Cheers Hannah

Well, I don't have a bunch of shit pounded through my face and I also don't have much hair so I guess I'm out. If I tuck my pee pee between my legs can I play Juliet?

I do not subscribe to your stereotypical and erroneous cartoon of a "Goth Guy".
If this is what you think a Goth Guy looks like, try Hot Topic.

Yah! It's like "I wanna do a Romeo and Juliet version of 'Twilight'! Which one of you fits the mold?" I think most of us are here for the music, not some superficial hipster facade.

I tried the goth look for several years but I was too fat Whooda thought that the skinny weakling guys I picked on when I was young would end up with a huge advanage over me in later life?

Are the characters stereotypically mall goth with tattoos and piercings and such? And if that image is so appealing why isn't the music? How is it that people get so into the cliched "look" but not into all the music that runs circles around the crap you hear on the soundtracks to these movies?

Hmmm... if you want someone thin/skinny, I think you're clearly in the wrong place.

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
There doesn't appear to be an overwhelming amount of tattoos and piercings in 'Twilight', but for some reason, Hot Topic is crammed with the merchandise. Their look is just pale and pretty. Oh, and they sparkle. Musically, it's probably just corporate label whores vs. actual creative musicians. This, of course, is a huge oversimplification, but I digress.

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
Wow, so none of you have any idea what I was actually looking for. Okay. You're saying there are no thin people on the board? I find that a little bit hard to believe, but alright. There's no need to get defensive or assume that I want anything to do with Twilight, (which btw, has little to nothing to do with Romeo & Juliet, maybe you should read it. It's by Shakespeare.)... just because you yourself might not fit a certain description, does not mean that anyone else who doesn't look like you is a fucking Edward Cullen, and gee, that must be what I was looking for. I don't recall asking for anyone is "pretty" and sparkles or shops at Hot Topic. I asked if there are any guys with dark hair who aren't freaking huge. Apparently there is not, my bad. But if you feel otherwise, that must be what I really meant. My apologies, mein Fuhrer.

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
Uh huh, so, I personally am a fan of artists of many sizes, including ones that tend to lean toward the heavy side of the spectrum (Ronan Harris, Tom Shear, Daniel Brezzanuti). It's the composition of their intelligence, spirit and talent that matters, so your desire for a model just because they're "thin" seems quite shallow, but whatever. This is almost spam. In my opinion, adding tattoos and piercings to Shakespeare's characters is about the equivalent to making Bram Stoker's sparkle. And before you go throwing out the fascism label, perhaps you should do a little research yourself. I recommend "Blackwater by Jeremy Scahill".

I don't see it as "shallow" to have specific body types in mind for a particular shoot. It's at the artist's discretion. Personally I always felt both Romeo and Juliet, being particularly young (Juliet is 13 and Romeo's age is never divulged), would be quite diminutive in size and stature making the older authority figures around them more of a visually oppressive force.

devil wrote: I don't see it as "shallow" to have specific body types in mind for a particular shoot. That's what I was about to say. Unless the original poster built a magical camera that takes pictures of SOULS, then *obviously* her requirements are going to be superficial. She ain't looking for a soulmate, ferchrissakes, she just wants A MODEL, for SOME PICTURES. Go buy a clue, morons. But yeah, to the original poster: if it's professionalism and courtesy you're looking for, go to a modeling agency (and pay the big bucks)! If you want someone to do it on the cheap, you'll just have to learn to ignore all of the internet loudmouths who are using this same free service. There are plenty of pale waifish tattoed guys around. You may also want to consider showing up at a couple club nights or concerts to do some scouting on your own; I'd suggest having business cards so guys don't get the, uhh, "wrong idea" though...

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
Oh, how often do we talk about art here (other than music)? I still say it's shallow to join a message board you obviously didn't even read before, for the only purpose of finding someone that fits your artistic aesthetic, and then get upset to learn we felt (I felt) we were being pigeonholed with our appearance. I get the artists discretion, but I've almost never seen anyone at an event of DTC nature that matches the desired description.

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
I would also recommend hanging out at the goth nights around town (GZ, Hard Mondays, Chamber, Transmission) to find some models. Because hooking up with people on the internet, no matter what activity you're doing, is a bit of a personal safety risk. Likewise, a model isn't going to want to risk going out to your studio sight unseen. Whereas if you go out and make yourself known, start talking to people, spreading the word--that could net you more willing volunteers than from any chat board.
P.S. I wish there were more art/fashion discussions on the board. That's my vice; not the music so much.

Yes and there are many music discussions.
The fashion discussions.. well, what's to discuss? Nobody seems to make decent clothing for men. We've discussed that.

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
God you guys suck!
I just spent waaaay too much time rolling my eyes at the juvenille posts on this thread. I knew there were a bunch of petty, argumentative, pompous douchewads on this board but I had no idea that such a harmless post would bring it out so.
Stop lecturing her about asking for help with a photo shoot. Stop critiquing her choice of subject matter. Stop worrying about her personal safety for her. Stop accusing her of judging you and your subculture.
Is it that hard for you to shut your mouth? Must you constantly make smarmy smartass comments that nobody thinks is clever? Half of you dicks don't do sh*t with your lives but at the drop of a hat you jump all over someone who is actually attempting to create something and you pick it apart like you have the authority to do so. You are clowns who accomplish nothing, create nothing, and contribute only dim sarcastic wit that frankly bores me to death. I pity you.
Ranting aside, back to the original post. I hope the photo shoot went well. I'm sure these chumps were of no help to you but don't mind them- they just have no lives and love creating false drama.

Re: Need an alternative/goth guy for photo shoot
Such a whiner, you are.
1). Did you volunteer to model before or after you posted your "shame on you" lecture?
2). All anyone ever does on this board is snark and bitch. If you're surprised or dismayed then you haven't been paying attention. You're bitching yourself; "Leave Hannah alone! What haz she evar done 2 U?!?!" *mascara streaks* Toughen up, both of you.
3). If this goth-lolita-pierced-star-crossed lovers pining in velvet and spikes wasn't such a trite, played-out cliche; members might have been more supportive. Nobody takes anything seriously anymore, and if she can't handle the snark from an online board, she's going to be ripped to shreds by real-life critics. Five will get you ten that she prints the series in black and white with a few key details masked-in in blood red.
4). Trying to snag models without offering pay is tacky.
